I have never really needed a truck. They offer a great way to haul things around for work or tow things for play.
This week I am driving the 2011 Toyota Tacoma – it is a compact/mid-size pickup and I think that if I were in need of a truck, this would be the way I would go. Sufficiently big for lots of cargo yet versatile enough for your life away from work.
Climbing into this 4X4 Access cab; it is quite high! The step up inside the cabin is made easier by the grab handle. As an average size woman, I am impressed that I can easily climb into this thing.
Available with a four or six-cylinder engine, manual or automatic transmission and a wide selection of body styles ranging from Regular Cab, Access Cab (an extended cab with small rear-hinged doors) and Double Cab (crew cab with four full-size front hinged doors); this Tacoma offers buyers just as much choice with this mid size as they would with a full size.
A six-foot bed is standard on the Regular and Access Cabs. The double cab comes with a five-foot bed, although there is a six-foot option for extra length. Standard equipment includes a durable dent and rust resistant, double-walled, composite cargo bed with a removable tailgate, cargo bed tie-downs and four tie-down cleats.
Sitting behind the wheel, there is no question that this is a work truck. The use of all the plastic would look out of place in just about any other vehicle, yet it reminds me that I could easily use any of the buttons or knobs with a dirty pair of work gloves on.
This truck is not afraid to get dirty either – both the cargo bed and this interior are easy to clean.
I have been impressed recently with manufactures updating the interiors of all vehicles and find that most of the Toyota products are falling behind in this department. The Nissan Frontier is a close rival to the Tacoma and I noticed that its interior is a bit more updated while keeping a ‘work’ feel to it.
