On April 1st at the 2015 New York Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz will host the world premiere of the new GLE, GLE 63 S and GLE 550e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid. In case you didn't know, GLE is the new designation for the popular M-Class SUV following the company's revised nomenclature.

Sporting redesigned, more attractive front and rear fascias, the Mercedes-Benz GLE will offer a selection of five engines (at least in Europe) including 4-, 6-, and 8-cylinder units running on gasoline and diesel. Those headed for North America have yet to be announced. Same thing for pricing.

More specifically, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 4MATIC houses a 305-horsepower V6; the GLE 400 4MATIC gets a 329-horsepower, twin-turbo V6; the GLE 300d 4MATIC uses a 201-horsepower, 4-cylinder diesel engine; and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and GLE 63 S each boast a twin-turbo V8 rated at 550 and 577 horsepower, respectively.

Meanwhile, the GLE 550e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid combines a 329-horsepower, twin-turbo V6 with a 114-horsepower electric motor to generate 436 total horsepower.

Up to six different drive modes will be available to optimize ride and handling on various surfaces.
