Limited-edition 2016 BMW M4 GTS coming to North America

By ,

Here’s the brand new 2016 BMW M4 GTS, which will be limited to 700 units worldwide when it goes on sale in the spring. The great news is that, for the first time ever, this special edition will be available to North American customers.

BMW says that 300 will cross the Atlantic, although the press release didn’t specify how many of them (if any) will be sold in Canada.

Weighing just 1,510 kg, the M4 GTS is the world’s first production road car with a water injection system. The 3.0L M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine under the hood produces 493 horsepower, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.8 seconds and topping at 305 km/h.

This car also marks the world premiere of OLED technology (organic light-emitting diodes) on a series-produced vehicle. The roof, hood, and adjustable front and rear splitters are all made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. Same thing for the single-piece driveshaft and the strut brace. There are 19” front and 20” rear M light-alloy wheels, M carbon-ceramic brakes, plus a distinctive front grille with M double bars in black.

The cockpit of the M4 GTS offers M sports seats in Alcantara, a new centre console, and no rear seats to save weight (this area is now trimmed in glass-fiber-reinforced plastic with a carbon sandwich bulkhead to the rear). An auto-dimming rear-view mirror, navigation, automatic climate control, and parking assist come standard.

Pricing for the 2016 BMW M4 GTS has yet to be announced.
