Chevrolet is making it easier and easier for motorists to visit the gas pump less often, with its latest offering a new version of the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox equipped with a fuel-stingy 1.6L turbo-diesel engine. The available powertrain, the third 2018 Equinox trim to be offered with a turbocharged propulsion system, will please owners with its 6.0L/100 km highway efficiency (with front-wheel drive).
The new engine, developed mainly at GM’s diesel product centre in Torino, Italy, is a clean-sheet redesign for the automaker, starting with the engine control system. Its impressive capabilities in terms of fuel economy, aided by the inclusion of stop/start technology, are expected to make it the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its class.
