Ford is enhancing the Mustang Mach-E lineup for 2027 with a new Trail package. Offered on the all-wheel-drive Select trim, it includes a raised suspension and several components borrowed from the Mach-E Rally. The manufacturer designed this variant for drivers who will take their EV on dirt or gravel roads, for example to reach campsites or hiking trails.

Rally version components
The Trail package includes passive springs and dampers with specific tuning. Compared to the Select and Premium versions, ride height increases by 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear.

The steering rack, 19-inch wheels, and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tyres are sourced from the Mach-E Rally. Ford aims to improve vehicle handling on unpaved surfaces.

“The Mustang Mach-E Trail features suspension tuning to improve ground clearance and uses the same Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires as the Mustang Mach-E Rally,” explains Nick Rallis, engineer responsible for Mach-E integration at Ford.

Aesthetically, this variant can be recognized by its dark grey wheels and the black lower section of its front bumper. A Mach-E Trail logo also appears on the centre armrest. The package is factory-installed, and its production will not be limited.

Outlets for outdoor equipment
The 400-watt Pro Power Onboard system comes as standard equipment with the Trail package. Outlets located in the cargo area and at the rear of the centre console can power small devices, such as camping lights, a fan or a pump to inflate a paddleboard.

Ford also offers Thule roof bars as an accessory to accommodate various transport racks. Buyers can add a package that includes all-weather floor mats and cargo area protection.

2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E – So what else is new?

For 2027, Ford is also including an extended-range battery as standard equipment across all Mustang Mach-E versions. The Select and Premium versions feature a usable capacity of 88 kWh, compared to 91 kWh for the GT and Rally variants. Range estimates will be announced by the manufacturer closer to their market launch.

A new front motor also makes its appearance. According to Ford, it delivers the same performance as the previous unit while being less expensive to produce.

The BlueCruise 1.5 system is offered as an option on Select and Premium models, and as standard equipment on GT and Rally versions. For the Trail variant, the required equipment must be selected at the time of order, as it cannot be added later.
