2027 Hyundai Tucson Makes Like Big Brother The newly unveiled Tucson compact SUV gets bigger and squarer.

Hyundai has rolled out the 2027 Tucson, which ditches the outgoing model’s relatively soft, contoured curves for a blockier, truck-like aesthetic that accentuates its family resemblance with the larger Santa Fe.

Design of the 2027 Hyundai Tucson

Designed under the brand’s new “Art of Steel” language, the updated compact crossover features pronounced, rally-inspired fenders, a lowered coefficient of drag (0.30), and an imposing front fascia anchored by the “H-Edge” lightbar.

Dimensionally, the new Tucson grows 60 mm longer and 40 mm wider, with an extra 30 mm added to its wheelbase.

That expanded footprint pays dividends inside the cabin. Rear legroom expands to 1,064 mm, while headroom increases across both rows. The rear passenger doors now open to a wide 83-degree angle, simplifying car-seat installation and cargo loading.

The redesigned dashboard embraces soft, furniture-inspired surfaces alongside new storage nooks and physical controls for climate functions. A high-mounted 9.9-inch driver display is paired with a standard 12.9-inch or available 15.9-inch central touchscreen. Operating on Hyundai’s new Pleos infotainment system, the setup features built-in Gleo AI voice assistance and standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

An XRT PRO
For buyers seeking added adventure, Hyundai debuts the new XRT PRO trim. Tailored for light off-road excursions, it gains 210 mm of ground clearance (up from 180 mm on standard trims), 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, exposed front recovery hooks, AI-powered Terrain Mode and forged-carbon-style cladding.

Powertrains of the 2027 Hyundai Tucson

Unfortunately, while there is a PHEV version of the Tucson in existence, it won’t be offered in Canada. Buyers will choose between conventional gas and straight-hybrid powertrains. The standard gas engine produces up to 184 hp, while the upgraded hybrid system combines a turbocharged 1.6L engine with electric drive to generate 233 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid model offers a 3,000-lb towing capacity and targets a fuel consumption rating as low as 5.6L/100 km (in two-wheel-drive configurations).

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson launches in South Korea later this year before arriving at North American dealerships in 2027. Canadian pricing will be confirmed closer to its local on-sale date.
