Automakers across the globe continue to lean heavily into the rugged, adventure-ready trend, and Mini is the latest brand to join the fray. The BMW-owned British carmaker has unveiled the 2027 Countryman Untamed Edition, a beefed-up variant designed to trade city streets for backcountry trails. By pairing a factory suspension lift with dedicated all-terrain rubber, Mini is giving its compact crossover genuine off-road capability to match aggressive new looks.

At the core of the Untamed Edition's mechanical upgrades is a 15 mm suspension raise. Combine that with a newly developed wheel and tire package and the vehicle boasts a total ground clearance increase of up to 19 mm over standard trims. Mini fitted the crossover with exclusive 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, styled after classic off-road steelies, and wrapped them in Pirelli Scorpion All-terrain Plus tires.
To ensure predictable dynamics despite the higher centre of gravity, engineers retuned the steering, ABS and electronic stability control systems to handle the increased grip and revised geometry.
Design of the 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition
Visually, the Untamed Edition stands out with a unique front grille featuring vertical bars, dark silver exterior accents and matte black protective striping along the hood and wheel arches. Redesigned front and rear bumpers complement protective side sills, while blue Untamed badges adorn the C-pillars.
Exterior paint options include exclusive shades like Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue. That last one marks the first time a production Mini is offered with a matte paint finish. Nanuq White and Midnight Black are also available.

Inside, the cabin features Nightshade Blue Vescin vegan leather sport seats paired with knitted fabric surfaces inspired by rock formations, accented by Cornflower blue stitching and piping. A redesigned centre console storage box incorporates grey mesh and adjustable elastic straps reminiscent of outdoor climbing gear.
Rubber floor mats come standard in the passenger cabin and cargo area, though buyers seeking a different aesthetic can opt for Heritage Brown or Black interior themes.

For enthusiasts planning serious outdoor excursions, Mini partnered with Italian specialist AUTOHOME to offer an optional gas-strut-assisted roof tent designed to mount directly onto the standard roof rack. Outdoor gear maker HELINOX also developed matching folding chairs and a camping table tailored to the Untamed’s design cues. When properly equipped with an optional trailer hitch, the crossover offers a maximum towing capacity of 1,587 kg (3,500 lb).
Powertrains of the 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition
In Canada, the Untamed Edition will be offered across both gas and electric powertrains. The gasoline-powered Countryman S ALL4 runs via a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The fully electric Countryman SE ALL4 gets a 66-kWh battery and dual electric motors to produce 313 hp and 364 lb-ft of torque.
