Polestar is expanding its electric vehicle roster with the launch of the 2027 Polestar 4 SUV, a utility-focused counterpart to the existing Polestar 4 coupe crossover. Built in Busan, South Korea, the new variant retains the core performance of the original model while providing additional interior space. It also addresses the all-electric model’s most controversial design choice, namely by featuring an actual rear window.

In comparison with its sleeker coupe sibling, the Polestar 4 SUV adopts a straighter roofline, a more upright tailgate and that conventional rear window, paired with a standard traditional rearview mirror. Note that a digital camera mirror remains an option for drivers seeking a wider field of view when hauling large loads.

The updated silhouette increases rear-seat headroom by 2.5 cm and accommodates an elongated panoramic glass roof extending toward the tailgate. Up top we find full-length roof rails with a 100-kg dynamic load capacity.
Cargo capacity also sees a boost over the coupe. Behind the 60-40 split-folding rear seats, cargo space measures 530 litres to the seatbacks and up to 655 litres when loaded to the roof. Folding the seats expands total cargo volume to 1,665 litres, with maximum available storage reaching 1,680 litres when factoring in additional compartments.
The minimalistic cabin features sustainable materials, among them recycled plastic textiles and traceable leather, and it comes with a tablet-style touchscreen backed by Google Gemini AI for voice controls.
Powertrains of the 2027 Polestar 4 SUV
Underneath, the SUV relies on the same Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) and 100-kWh battery pack as the coupe. The single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant generates 272 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) option produces 544 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque, dropping the 0-100 km/h sprint to 3.9 seconds.
Canadian models support Level 3 DC fast charging up to 200 kW and Level 2 AC charging up to 11 kW. While official Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) ratings are pending, the mechanical twin coupe delivers up to 499 km with RWD and 451 km in the AWD configuration.
A Performance Pack
An optional Performance Pack adds chassis tuning, recalibrated ZF active dampers, Brembo brakes with signature Swedish Gold calipers and 22-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero performance tires.
The Polestar 4 SUV also introduces a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system capable of supplying up to 3.3 kW to external devices, paired with a new dedicated Camping Mode that manages climate control, ambient lighting, and entertainment from front and rear displays while parked.
2027 Polestar 4 SUV – Pricing and availability in Canada
Production of the 4 SUV is underway in South Korea, with Canadian deliveries scheduled to begin in late 2026 or early 2027. Canadian pricing will be announced closer to launch, though it’s expected to command a slight premium over the Polestar 4 coupe, which currently starts at $62,700 before fees.
Recall that the model will not enter the U.S. market following federal restrictions on connected vehicles linked to Chinese parent company Geely. As it stands right now, Polestar is banned from selling any vehicle in the U.S.
