As it continues its phaseout of the iconic high-displacement engines that have defined its 107-year history to date, Bentley looks to make some new history with the launch of its first fully electric vehicle. Named after a dramatic rock formation in Spain and spanning five metres from tip to tip, the Bentley Torcal arrives as the smaller sibling to the Bentayga and serves as a direct rival to Rolls-Royce's upcoming electric offerings.
Designed, engineered and built in Crewe, England, the Torcal marks Bentley’s fourth core model line. Note that the luxury SUV shares much of its underlying DNA with the Porsche Cayenne Electric and has the same ambitions to wed ultra-refinement and overt EV performance.
Design of the 2028 Bentley Torcal
The Torcal is instantly recognizable as a Bentley, even as it debuts a fresh design language featuring a novel grille and headlight arrangement. It’s also the brand's first vehicle to display its modernized emblem.
The exterior showcases muscular fenders housing 21- or 22-inch wheels and draws heavy inspiration from the EXP 15 concept, notably through ultra-slim rear tail lights. Buyers can choose between a standard model adorned with satin silver brightware or the sportier S variant, which trades shine for aggressive, blackened trim.

Inside, Bentley focused on creating a highly digitized environment without sacrificing its signature craftsmanship. The cabin is fronted by a curved OLED touchscreen below which sit tactile physical buttons finished with classic diamond knurling.
High-tech touches include a facial recognition system, 28-speaker Naim audio system, ambient theatrical lighting and 16-way adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. In a first at Bentley, the three-passenger rear bench features a power-folding mechanism.
Powertrain of the 2028 Bentley Torcal
Bentley gives it first BEV a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The standard Torcal generates 810 hp and 881 lb-ft of torque, and it can hit 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The performance-focused Torcal S elevates output to 876 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque. Its optimal 0-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds makes the S variant the quickest production Bentley ever built.
Real-world range is expected to settle around 500 km as per the EPA system, if we go by the 600-km WLTP estimate.
Rear-wheel steering
The Torcal rides on an advanced chassis incorporating fully active suspension, adaptive dampers and standard five-degree rear-wheel steering that yields a tight 11.1-metre turning circle.
To replace traditional engine notes, Bentley engineered a unique soundtrack inspired by the rhythm of a drum set and the firing order of a combustion engine, projected through an external rear speaker.
Operating on an 800-volt architecture, the Torcal’s 113-kWh battery supports up to 400-kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10 to 80 percent top-up in just 16 minutes. An integrated NACS port gives adapter-free access to Tesla Superchargers.
2028 Bentley Torcal - Pricing and availability in Canada
The Bentley Torcal is scheduled to arrive in the North American market in 2027 as a 2028 model. While official Canadian pricing and regional launch dates have yet to be formally confirmed, industry expectations indicate it will carry a lower starting price than the Bentayga, which currently opens at $262,100 CAD.
