Covering the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time, the Flagworld team found out that there's a lot to see and take pictures of. Here are some of my fondest memories of this event.
No race would be complete without the ''GIRLS''. At Le Mans, these scantily-clad women walked along the track under the afternoon sun, a couple of minutes prior to the start of the event on Saturday. Dozens of photographers were aiming their cameras straight at them in order to get good shots...
Dark clouds suddenly shrouded the sky and many wondered if the cars would start the race with their rain tires. As it turned out, the rain started about an hour into the race.
During the team and driver introduction ceremonies, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve, a rookie at Le Mans, sat next to one of his teammates, Spaniard Marc Gené. Unfortunately for them, Peugeot's number 7 car could not complete the event.
Right off the bat, the battle between Audi and Peugeot proved to be a real delight for spectators. The heat was on.The crowd was excited about the return of French team Peugeot and its two cars (number 7 and 8).
The victorious Audi number 1 was a monster on the road, as evidenced by this cornering maneuver before the famous Dunlop bridge. This Audi R10 TDI is truly a sight to behold.
During a pit stop at the 20
th hour, the Audi number 1 car still looked fresh and ready for the final assault. Technicians merely had to fill the diesel tank. A great performance all the way to the finish line...
The gorgeous Zytek 07S/2 number 32 from Team Barazi Epsilon, during one of the many showers on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the car had to quit the race after 252 laps because of engine difficulties.
