This week, Acura silenced a number of critics who question some of its cars. Often criticized for the lack of power in the
TSX , Acura is now bestowing upon it an optional 3.5-litre, 280-hp V6 stemming from the TL. What's more, the SH-AWD version will inherit a manual transmission.
The V6 incarnation also includes the SportShift automatic transmission with paddle shift. Acura has energized the car with a new, stiffer suspension and 18-inch wheels. Style-wise, Acura has barely touched the front fascia, with the biggest changes having been made to the bumper. Other than that, it remains identical to the 4-cylinder variant. The other modifications concern the V6's updated standard equipment, which includes an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, XM satellite radio with
Bluetooth and a seven-speaker sound system. The manufacturer has also taken advantage of the Chicago show to introduce the new TL SH-AWD sedan with manual transmission. The 2010 TL becomes the first of the brand's cars to feature both all-wheel drive and a manual transmission. With six speeds, it's the lightest by nearly 50 kilos compared to the automatic SportShift transmission. Both new cars will be available this fall as 2010 models.
