A1GP: The cars are still in Great-Britain apparently

By ,

One week away from the opening round of the 2009-2010 A1 Grand Prix “World Cup of Motorsport” series in Surfers Paradise, several motorsport web sites and newspapers state that the

Accoring to grandprix.com, Tony Teixeira, the A1GP boss has won a court case to win the release of the cars that have been held since the end of the last A1GP season by a freight company that is claiming it is owed $2m.

A1 Grand Prix’s operating company went out of business in July and was placed in liquidation by the British courts.

Engine supplier Ferrari probably also has some claim, as the engines are believed to be leased from the Italians and do not therefore belong to A1GP. There have been reports for sometime that Ferrari is not happy with the situation, as Teixeira allegedly owes it money.

The series’ boss now claims that he has found the money to run the championship for the next four years and that being the case all will be well. The creditors can be paid and the championship can go ahead.

However, Australian newspaper Gold Coast News reported that the A1GP cars have not been modified in accordance with the wishes of the FIA and, while they’re should be flying to Australia, they are still in Britain. From Brisbane, news says that there is no reservation for a cargo flight.
