Volkswagen teamed up with the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology to create a futuristic navigation system dubbed AIDA, which stands for Affective, Intelligent Driving Agent.
The goal of the project was to develop a device where car, driver and city become one, a veritable travel guide that provides information in real time on neighbourhoods, stores, restaurants and events as you drive along.
It’s an incredible step forward from the traditional GPS that simply tells you how to get from A to B – but so distracting you have to wonder if it will ever find its way into an actual car.
