The Tesla Model S will soon have a true competitor as Audi announced plans to launch a new, all-electric model with a range of 450 kilometres in 2017.
Audi's technical director, Ulrich Hackengerg, said the car will comfortably sit five people and offer plenty of room for luggage. However, he didn't specify which type of vehicle that would be -- a sedan, wagon, SUV, or crossover.
Hackenberg's promise of a 450-kilometre range trumps the upcoming Audi R8 e-tron (likely to be unveiled in Detroit in January) and lands right in the ballpark of Tesla. How much will it cost? That remains to be seen.
