Roush Yates, the well known designer and constructor of high performance engines, announced Friday that it will join the ranks of the American Le Mans Series starting in 2011.

The company will provide Ford V6 EcoBoost Turbo engines to the LMP2 category with Lola already announcing it will offer the engine as a standard installation on its prototypes cars.

Roush Yates joins Honda, AER and Jodd as engine suppliers for the LMP competition next season. BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Nissan and Toyota have also been rumoured to join the already well furnished ALMS ranks.

Roush Yates could also introduce its Mustand V8 to the competition. It is evaluating the potential for LMP1 in collaboration with Lola.
