The Rockstar Makita Suzuki team announced today that they will appeal the penalty imposed by AMA Pro Racing against six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin . AMA Pro Racing disqualified Mladin's Superbike race victories from the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) event August 16 and 17, 2008.According to AMA Pro Racing, the crankshaft in Mladin's race-winning GSX-R1000 was found to be in non-compliance with the 2008 AMA Superbike Championship Rulebook, following post-race technical inspection.If the decision is upheld, Mladin chances to pursue the championship battle are, for all purposes, over.
