The AMA Supercross series visited St Louis (MO) on Saturday as its two dominant riders, the steady Chad Reed (Suzuki) and main rival and quickest rider in the series James Stewart (Yamaha) lined up to do battle. Reed led the season championship from Stewart by only 6 points, after finishing first or second in every race so far this season. In the preliminaries, Reed won his heat race while Stewart finished 9th in his after falling twice.In the final, both Reed and Stewart got mediocre starts, ensuring an exciting show for the 55,000 fans in the house. Stewart clawed his way from 7th to first in five laps, passing Reed in the process, before falling again with five laps to go in the 20-lap final.
