AMA Supercross: The Firm of Stewart and Reed does the business in Jax.

By ,

Yamaha lead rider James Stewart won his 10th AMA Supercross race of 2009 at the inaugural race in Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, before 31,653 fans and the ever steady Chad Reed (Suzuki). Suzuki's Mike Alessi won the holeshot at the start of the final, in front of team mate Reed and a fighting Stewart, after these two had each won their qualifying heat. Reed and Stewart moved to the front during lap 1, after which it took Stewart 13 laps to find a way past the ever steady Reed. The two exchanged the lead over the next two laps before Stewart made the break for his tenth victory of the season, in front of Reed and the Honda of Kevin Windham.

Stewart's win narrowed Reed's points lead to just five, a three point improvement, with three rounds to go. Tight finish anyone? The next race of the 2009 AMA Supercross series will take place on Saturday, April, 18 at Seattle's Qwest Field.
