AMG to confront Porsche 911

By ,

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is so successful that the German manufacturer’s high-performance branch plans on repeating the experience with a smaller car meant to poach some of the Porsche 911’s territory.

AMG’s director of development, Christoph Jung, confirmed the news this week, giving a few details on this latest creation.

The car will seat two, use a front engine and come with a price tag similar to that of the Porsche Carrera and Carrera S.

Jung didn’t want to say more about the engine, but we’re likely looking at the 5.5-litre, 415-hp V8 powering the SLK55 AMG.

AMG may also decide to go for broke and demolish the competition, performance-wise, with the athletic twin-turbo V8.

Great news for all well-to-do consumers and pony-hungry drivers out there!
