Andros Trophy: Bertrand Balas dominates day 1; Villeneuve 12th

Bertrand Balas (Toyota Auris) took overall win in the first day of the inaugural Andros Trophy race of the season in Val Thorens. Jacques Villeneuve (Skoda Fabia) took 12th position overall.

The drivers were divided in four final groups following the qualifying heats. Balas dominated: he was quickest in qualifying and won the final race.

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve, who was making his debuts in Andros Trophy, ice racing series, spun in the first qualifying heat before setting the 9th best performance in the second qualifying heat.

The Canadian took 13th position in overall qualifying heats, then took 6th position in his final. He stands in 12th position of the overall standing in this first day of ice racing.
