Andros Trophy: Llorach takes day one victory

Pierre Llorach (Renault Clio III) clinched victory in the first day at the Alpe d’Huez.

Llorach dominated the qualifying, and took first position in both sessions ahead of Olivier Panis (Skoda Fabia) and championship leader Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Mini Countryman).

The Renault Clio driver clinched victory in his Elite Sup final, ahead of Alain Prost (Dacia Lodgy) and Benjamin Rivière (Skoda Fabia). The other Elite Sup final was won by Olivier Panis ahead of Bertrand Balas (Mini Countryman) and Olivier Pernaut (Ford Fiesta RS).

In first day’s overall classification, Llorach took win ahead of Olivier Panis and Bertrand Balas.

Jacques Villeneuve had a difficult day in Alpe d’Huez. The Canadian driver struggled in qualifying, were he classified 18th. Then he could not score a single point in the final heats, which dropped him down in 24th position overall at the end of the day.

In provisional championship classification, Olivier Panis takes the championship lead back before the second round of the week end. The former F1 driver leads Dayraut by only one point, while Alain Prost stands only two points behind Panis.
