Another solid blow to Ontario's auto industry: 2,000 jobs lost

By ,

Progressive Moulded Products Ltd., which manufactures plastic components for automakers, announced that all eleven plants in Concord and Rexdale will soon close. These facilities are currently supplying General Motors, which recently cut 1,000 jobs at its Oshawa assembly plant .
Given the decrease in production at the GM facility, orders made to Progressive Moulded Products Ltd. became insufficient to maintain operations. The company also has a large debt, which forced executives to file for protection against creditors under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. This announcement is yet another solid blow to the Ontario auto industry. photo: Philippe Champoux
