The boutique German racecar manufacturer Gumpert unveiled two new models this week in Geneva, the apollo r and the special-edition apollo enraged.
The street-legal apollo enraged, of which there are only three, features distinctive swing doors and up to 780 hp from its Audi-sourced supercharged 4.2-litre V8.
The custom racing version apollo r — the most powerful, lightest apollo yet — gets 860 hp from its 4.2-litre V8 when fed on high-octane racing fuel, thanks to higher supercharging pressure, ignition and control time adjustments, optimisation of air intake ducts and special racing exhaust system. Aside from a central digital dash, all frills have been removed from the apollo r, getting weight down to 1,100 kg.
The mythical gryphon (half lion/half eagle) features prominently on both vehicles as “lord of the air as well as the earth.”
Gumpert representatives did not comment on why the enraged was so angry.
