ARCA: Ty Dillon wins 3rd consecutive race at Pocono

By ,

Ty Dillon edged teammate Tim George Jr. to win a third consecutive ARCA Racing Series' race at the Pocono Raceway.

The Chevrolet driver, who started the race in second position, had to wait on Sunday morning to catch his victory after Saturday afternoon's activities were suspended due to heavy rain at the track.

Max Gresham had taken the pole position of this race. He led the first two laps before a multi-car wreck took out several of its rivals behind him. He later led the restart on lap 14 but had to give in for Dillion's incredible pace on lap 17.

Gresham lost his second position on lap 32 when he pitted during the third caution flag of the race caused this time by... him when he touched the lapped car of Roderick that went in a spin!

Dillon was leading Hessert, Buescher and George on the fourth and last restart (24 laps out of 50) on lap 41. On the next lap, George was passing Buescher, then second, to settle in this position behind his teammate for the final 9 laps of the race.

Chris Buescher finished in 3rd position with Tom Hessert in 4th and Grant Enfinger in 5th. Polesitter Gresham completed his day in 6th place followed by Chad Hackenbracht, Robb Brent, Ryan Wilson and Frank Kimmel for the top-10.

Dillon increased his championship lead with his seventh win this season. He now has an incredible gap of 410 points over closest follower Enfinger with six races to go to this 2011 season.

Canadian driver Maryeve Dufault took the 13th position of this 13th of 19 races this season, which was still better than her female counterpart Mika Duno who finished 25th, three laps down from the leaders.

The next race, which will this time count a more 'regular' 100 laps, will take place in Springfield, Ill., in two weeks, on Sunday, August 21st, 2011.
