ARCA: Ty Dillon wins Chicagoland, Andrew Ranger takes 5th

By ,

ARCA Racing Series’points leader Ty Dillon took his third victory of the 2011 season Saturday night, winning the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 at the Chicagoland Speedway.

The race had been scheduled for 5 p.m., but after a thunderstorm hit the speedway officials decided to run it after the featured Nationwide Series race instead of before.

And what appeared to be a sure win with 15 laps to go, Chad Hackenbracht, who had a nine-second lead, blew a tire and hit the wall with his car rolling to a stop in the pits with flames shooting from underneath.

That left the field completely opened for Dillon on lap 70 and the rookie held on to the lead even thru two restarts later-on in therace. Dillon had also won at the Talladega Superspeedway in April and at theToledo Speedway in May.

Cris Buescher took second and Josh Richards was third.

Canadian Andrew Ranger finished fifth and what is a nice follow-up to his first vere ARCARacing Series 12 days ago at the New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Ranger headed straight to Montreal afterwards to take part in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series’ event at ICAR.

Another Canadian, Maryeve Dufault had also a good run at Chicagolang, finishing tenth in what his her best Performance so far this season.
