Aston Martin considering six-cylinder mills once again

By ,

At the unveiling of the new Virage, Dr Ulrich Bez, head of Aston Martin, said the British manufacturer is thinking of bringing back the six-cylinder engine. He revealed that, theoretically, the company had already chosen an inline configuration of “around 2.5-litre capacity with direct injection and turbocharging”.

However, this change of course doesn’t necessarily mean that Aston Martin’s development platform, dubbed VH, will be replaced. Dr Bez believes it still has quite a few good years left, given the fact that it underpins several of the automaker’s models. According to him, no rival manufacturer has been able to do the same.

Will the project go forward? It’s probably too soon to tell, but we’ll have time to speculate and ponder the crazy rumours that will undoubtedly circulate in the coming months.
