By ,

Unveiled on the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi's latest super SUV – the SQ5 – should prove very popular.

It's the first of the S series to come with a diesel engine – a twin turbo 3.0L, 309-horsepower unit that propels the SQ5 from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and up to a top speed of 250 km/h.

The outside features an aluminium grey front grill, a roof spoiler, modified bumpers and standard 20-inch wheels (21-inch wheels come as optional).

The inside, where electrically adjustable leather sport seats are found, is all black finish (a grey roof line is optional as well). Other notables: a grey and white instrument cluster, a multifunctional console and aluminium-look finished pedals.

Audi will start taking orders in October for the United Kingdom, and deliveries should then follow in the spring of 2013. Prices start at £ 45,000 – about $ 72,325.

Whether the SQ5 TDI with cross over the Atlantic or not is still unknown.
