Production of the Q3, Audi’s all-new compact SUVs, has started today at the SEAT plant in Martorell, Spain. From today, around 100,000 units will roll off the high-tech assembly line annually and be delivered to dealerships around the world.

Taking on the BMW X1, the most recent addition to the German automaker’s lineup weighs in at 1,500 kg and offers a choice of three four-cylinder mills: two versions of the 2.0-litre TFSI generating 170 and 211 hp, respectively, and a 2.0-litre, 140-hp TDI.

We still don’t have any details on pricing or the engines that will be available in North America. We do know, however, that in Germany the Q3 will start at 29,900 euros, or around 42,764 dollars according to today’s exchange rate.

The first clients should receive their Q3 in June.
