Audi suspends two engineers tied to rigged diesel engines

Following the recent discovery that approximately 85,000 Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine also exceed emissions standards in the U.S., Audi has decided to suspend two engineers who played a role in the rigging of these engines, according to Reuters .

CEO Rupert Stadler said in an interview with Germany’s Donaukurier regional newspaper published on Thursday that Audi is now investigating whether other employees within the technical departments deliberately manipulated emission-control devices.

The latest Audi suspensions increase to eight the number of officials confirmed to have been put on leave across the VW group as a result of its internal investigations, including at least six senior individuals.
