As Audi believes that the trend towards diesels is gathering strength in North America, the Q7 will be available with V12 TDI and 3.0 TDI engines. The 6.0-liter V12 TDI offers a staggering output of 500 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, which allows the Q7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and reach a governed top speed of 250 km/h.
This impressive performance is achieved thanks to a new emissions-control technology, which Audi has developed with their experience in racing the R10 sports prototype.A Q7 powered by a smaller, 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine with Bluetec technology is also in the works, which should reach showrooms at the end of 2008.
