Auto Safety telematics for 2011

By ,

Automotive Telematics are a combination of computer systems and telecommunications devices. General Motors' OnStar is one such example; it has more than 4.5 million subscribers and has been a pioneer of the technology in the auto industry.
By the end of 2008, it is expected that virtually all automakers will have some form of telematics as a standard feature. Future products will specifically provide consumers access to a larger amount of information from more sources with the use of fewer gadgets. It has been a rough road for telematics because of inflated expectations and disillusionment. The future looks bright as car makers have agreed to share control of the technology. We can therefore anticipate new systems and programs that will provide a greater variety of services in our vehicles in the next few years. photo: General Motors
