BMW still considering a CSL version of the 1 M

By ,

The BMW 1 M has been highly praised since its debut by auto enthusiasts and critics alike, thanks to its particularly sporty stance and refined looks. In fact, the model has been selling like hotcakes all over the world. But when you raise the bar so high knowing consumers always want more, you have to carefully set up your next move.

In an interview with Car Dealer magazine, BMW product manager James Morrison said there “is scope for a CSL version.” That’s great news for BMW fans. After all, an even lighter 1 M equipped with a 335-hp, 332 lb-ft, six-cylinder Twin Turbo would be something else.

Unfortunately, the project won’t necessarily get the go-ahead, as the manufacturer could accept any number of different proposals.

Price will be a deciding factor. Morrison says “losing weight from cars is really expensive” and he’s not sure a much more expensive 1 M “would work as well just because it’s quicker and lighter”.
