With thousands of cars about to come off their new car lease in the next couple of years, BMW Canada thought it was a good time to get serious with its used car program.
So they've dropped the old Renewed and Approved program and launched the Certified Series plan.According to Tobias Nickel of the Whitby-based firm, the big change from Renewed and Approved is the addition of leasing to the Certified Series.
Also, there are all of those cars coming off-lease to put on offer. Not all of the cars currently on the road will be made available through BMW dealers however.
Nickel says, ''All members of the BMW Certified Series program have to be inspected and their prior history documented before they are permitted to enter the program."
So, vehicles that have gone 100, 000 km or are older than 60 months from the original in-service date, have been used for commercial or racing purposes, have been altered from their original design specifications, or have experienced any sort of major structural damage (even if they've been repaired) are exempt from the Certified Series program.
Even if they aren't ruled out under those criteria, Nickel explains, they have to be good enough to pass a test that BMW will put them through.
Should they pass this 87-point test, Nickel explains, they are sold or leased by the deales with a money-back guarantee, a BMW Protection Plan, roadside assistance and a BMW Service Card.
