Canadian Rallies: First real test of the season in Maniwaki

By ,

The best rally drivers from Canada will participate in the opening round of the 2010 Canadian Rally Championship held next weekend as a new season gets underway in Maniwaki, Quebec .

Canadian champion Pat Richard (Subaru Impreza) is entered and will the first stage in first position alongside co-driver Alan Ockwell.

For some teams, the season kicked off last week in Michigan where Mitsubishi earned three of the top four places at the Snowdrift Rally, the first event on the Rally America calendar, with L’Estage coming in second and Andrew Comrie-Picard, defending North American champion taking fourth place in his Lancer Evolution 9 with co-driver Jeremy Wimpey.

The Perce-Neige Rally is renowned as a tough one; always raced under snowy not to say icy road conditions. Road conditions are reported as hard packed snow over ice: crews will be able to drive in convoy through the speed stages Friday to witness the conditions. The challenge will therefore be optimal for the 53 teams currently registered.

The fight between manufacturers Subaru and Mitsubishi will once again attract the attention of the fans this season as it promises to be more intense than ever.
