Cannonball Run , inspired the world's largest car rally. Now, after eight successful European events, the Cannonball Run will take place for the first time in Australia, from May 20 to 25, 2007. Seventy-five vehicles, driven by car enthusiasts and racing fanatics from around the world, will start from Brisbane in a 4000 kilometre driving adventure, stopping overnight in various cities to party along the way. Rather than racing to be the first car to arrive, drivers must complete the course with an average speed at or below the national speed limit (100 kph).

"This event is based on the success of our Cannonball Run Europe events which embody the spirit of the original U.S. Cannonball Run," said Tim "Maverick" Porter, Managing Director of the London-based company Cannonball Run World Events. Porter is also a long-time driver and car aficionado. Whether they drive a brand new Ferrari or a good old Skoda, entry fee is $10,000 Australian Dollars for all participants. The winners will earn a free shot at the world title, to be held in the United States from July 29 to August 4, 2007.
The Great American Run will be the largest coast-to-coast car rally in U.S. history, with 400 cars completing a 3000 mile trip.
