CCTCC&World-Challenge: 4 races in 2 days for the Wittmers

By ,

Brothers Nick and Kuno Wittmer from Montreal had a big week-end ahead of them on Saturday. They were both to take part in both Canadian Touring Car Championship and Speed World Challenge double-headers in Mosport.

Nick didn't know it then, but he was up for quite a week-end! Polesitter for the first of the two CCTCC race on Saturday, commissioners placed him 22nd on the grid for arriving too late on in.

Although he said he checked with them to make sure 22nd was his new place, he would later be penalized on lap for starting... at the wrong place!

Kuno is now 4th in World Challenge's championship standing and 1st in CCTCC.

Nevertheless he did come up the grid in no more than seven laps. That's all it took him to take back the lead and hold it until the end. With the lap penalty he was later deserve however, he could not do better than seventh, a place he would also earn in Sunday's race.

His brother Kuno, who had initially finished third, took the second place Saturday, and the third Sunday.

Both drivers also participated in Speed World Challenge's double-header. Kuno dominated from start to finish on Saturday's wet-race but could not do better than sixth on Sunday.

Nick would finish third on Saturday - starting from dead-last! - and right behind his brother on Sunday, in seventh.

Kuno is now 4th in World Challenge's championship standing and 1st in CCTCC. Nick is 4th in this last series.
