Subaru of America purposefully decided to celebrate Earth Day in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Now in its 40 th year of operation in the United States, the Japanese automaker distributed a total of 160 cherry trees to be planted in cities in which Subaru owns facilities: Aurora, Connecticut; Austell, Georgia; Cherry Hill, Westampton and Pennsauken, New Jersey; Itasca, Illinois; Portland, Oregon; and Whitestown, Indiana.

Such action comes as no surprise to those familiar with Subaru's environmental efforts. Planting began in April, allowing many of the blossoms to debut by Earth Day, April 22. A true harbinger of spring, the cherry tree has historically been given as a gesture of friendship. Subaru's celebratory gift of the flowering cherry trees, with their distinctive pink and white blossoms, will beautify the aforementioned locations for years to come. photo: Jupiter Images
