Only a few weeks ago, we reported that GM was seriously considering bringing some diesel action to their popular Cruze compact sedan. Well, GM has just confirmed that they will be doing exactly that.
How about that?
As far as we're concerned, this is a fantastic move on GM's part. Once the diesel Cruze arrives and if no one else jumps on the bandwagon between now and 2013, Chevrolet will be the only other nameplate to offer an affordable diesel alternative in North America along with Volkswagen.
We certainly applaud GM's decision and hope that other makes, namely Ford and Chrysler, follow suit in the next few years. Both also have numerous diesel powertrains in their vast world parts bins.
More details will be made available at a later date.
