Chevrolet Tahoe, Auto123.com’s 2018 Full-Size SUV of the Year Still a benchmark

By ,

The Chevrolet Tahoe took home our Full-Size SUV of the Year trophy during the 2018 Auto123.com Awards ceremony , held this past November 22nd in Toronto. It beat out the two other finalists in the category, the Dodge Durango and Nissan Armada.

The Tahoe remains a benchmark in the segment. In fact, it won the same award a couple of times over the past few years. It boasts the rock-solid credentials needed to make easy work of even the toughest demands.

This large SUV shares a lot of design elements and mechanical components with the Silverado pickup. It is powered by a trusty 5.3L V8 engine that produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque via a six-speed automatic transmission. A cylinder-deactivation system helps save fuel on the highway for a best-in-class rating of 10.4L/100km.

The Tahoe’s drive is super-quiet and smooth, which will please most buyers. We can say the same thing about its maximum towing capacity of 3,901 kg (8,600 lbs) when equipped with the available Max Trailering Package.

What Chevrolet has to say…

“Confident. Capable. Connected. With its superb blend of advanced technology, bold styling and powerful performance, the award-winning Chevrolet Tahoe delivers serious towing and payload capabilities along with available seating for up to nine. Inside and out, Tahoe is designed to make an impression. Its sculpted exterior and confident, athletic stance command attention, while the available soft touch leather-appointed interior surrounds the driver with premium amenities.”
