While the bowtie may symbolize the "Heartbeat of America" in its home market, since GM took over South Korea's Daewoo Motor Corp to form GMDAT (GM-Daewoo Automotive & Technology) with Japanese automaker Suzuki, a growing number of Chevrolet products, such as the Aveo, Optra and Epica have come from the Far East. The T2X Concept is the next phase in GM's global plan for Chevrolet.

The follow-up to the S3X concept SUV which debuted at last year's Paris auto show, the T2X is a more compact, rough n' tough two-door sport utility vehicle. GM's intentions with the T2X are to target the same active demographic as Toyota's FJ Cruiser - youthful individuals (and couples) who are big on adventure and the wild outdoors.

The T2X concept is expected to be based off of the S3X's platform, which when it arrives on production lines will be an offshoot of GM's compact SUV architecture. wheelbase, width and body length will be scaled down to reflect its two-door body style and sportier nature.

While the 'near production' S3X Concept was styled to reflect a forthcoming vehicle, the GMDAT design team has gone all-out with the shape of the T2X. From the official sketch, the T2X carries cartoon-like oversized front fenders arches to each side of the oversized center mesh grille. Futuristic projector-beam headlamps catch a striking pose, while gaping front vents on the lower fascia are crossed with scalloped doors and a swept-back windscreen to give the T2X the look of a sporty fastback with dune-hopping capabilities.
