Top Gear host Chris Evans has left the show after just one season, according to his Twitter account and the BBC website.

“Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best,” he wrote.

Five hosts remain for next season ― Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid, Chris Harris, Sabine Schmitz, and Eddie Jordan. Shooting will begin this fall.

The first season of Top Gear following the much controversial exit of Jeremy Clarkson and his pals concluded with the lowest audience of its current series as viewers flocked to watch Euro 2016, BBC reports .

Many felt that Chris Evans was a bad fit for the show in the first place. What do you think?
