Chrysler intends to retake position in the most affordable segments of the North American market. The Stellantis-owned brand continues its work developing two new crossovers with an expected starting price of around $25,000 USD, or about $34,500 CAD at current exchange rates.
Arrow and Arrow Cross
According to Automotive News, the two models will bear the names Arrow and Arrow Cross. It's expected they will essentially be tweaked and rebadged versions of the newly introduced Fiat Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback models introcued in Europe.
A third crossover is also said to be in the works. To be dubbed the Airflow, it will occupy a higher position in the lineup.
Rebuilding a lineup
The arrival of these vehicles would certainly allow Chrysler to diversify a lineup that is particularly limited at present. Since the discontinuation of the 300 sedan in 2023, the American brand’s lineup has consisted of the Pacifica and Voyager minivans, and that’s it.
The targeted starting price of the Arrow and Arrow Cross would place Chrysler in a segment that has become less crowded, this as the average price of new vehicles has risen sharply in recent years.
The Airflow also in the pipeline would be offered starting from around $35,000 USD, or nearly $48,300 CAD at current rates. There are, for the moment, no technical details regarding its powertrain.
Chrysler will lean on affordability
During an investor presentation held in May, Tim Kuniskis, head of American brands at Stellantis, described the renewal of the Chrysler lineup as “essential.”
“A practical purchase decision should focus on affordability,” he stated at the time.
The strategy would position Chrysler as the most accessible brand in the Stellantis portfolio, which notably includes Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
The precise launch timeline for the Arrow, Arrow Cross and Airflow remains to be confirmed.
