Chrysler announces pricing for 2009 Aspen Hybrid

By ,

Those looking for a bug SUV capable of hauling 8 passengers and tow over 6,000 lbs (2,700 kg) will be well-served. Chrysler's Aspen full-size SUV will soon be available in Canada in Hybrid configuration. Chrysler will now be offering an interesting alternative to General Motors' Tahoe Hybrid/Yukon Hybrid duo.
The Aspen HEMI Hybrid will be powered by a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 that's equipped with a cylinder-deactivation system. When the engine is not sollicitated, it shuts down 4 cylinders, which reduces fuel consumption. Total combined output is 385 horsepower and 381 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is mated to a continuously-variable transmission (CVT), which provides even greater fuel economy. The 2009 Chrysler Aspen HEMI Hybrid will be on sale this September and will start at $55,995. photo: Chrysler
