The competition in today's sub-compact segment is pretty fierce and many automakers are offering customization options in an effort to stand out. Countering rivals like the Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet is introducing the first production Z-Spec accessories for the 2012 Sonic, which goes on sale this fall.
The Z-Spec accessories will initially include body-coloured ground effects (with a silver exhaust tip) and several contrasting items, including the mirror caps, roof spoiler and grille surrounds. A body graphics package will also be offered along with 16- and 17-inch painted alloy wheels.
Colour accent packages in “Black Out” or “White Out”, as seen on Z-Spec concept versions of the Cruze, Spark and Volt shown at the 2010 SEMA show, will be available as well. The former features black accents on a Summit White Sonic and the latter sports Summit White accents on an Inferno Orange Sonic.
Additional dealer-installed accessories will join the portfolio at a later date.
Chevrolet will showcase the new Z-Spec range at the 2011 New York International Auto Show from April 22 to May 1.
