Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel, the overall leader of the 2012 Dakar rally raid, Saturday won Stage 13 of the event in his X-Raid MINI All4.
Today's stage travelled from Nasca to Pisco, Peru with 275 km of timed, special stage.
Peterhansel had a great run and crossed the line in first place. South African Giniel de Villiers arrived second in his Toyota, 8m29s down to Peterhansel.
Russian Leonid Notitskiy (MINI), took third place, 12m55s down to the winner of the stage.
Carlos Sousa (Haval Great Wall) was fourth in front of Lucio Exequiel Alvarez (Toyota) and Ricardo Leal Dos Santos (MINI). Dos Santos lost 15m04s after helping Nani Roma, the driver of a MINI.
American Robby Gordon, who got stuck in the sand, also did a somersault in his Hummer and had a flat tire, causing him to lose 36 minutes in the penultimate special of the 2012 Dakar.
In the general classification, Peterhansel is still in first place in front of Roma and De Villiers. Novitskiy climbs to fourth thanks to Gordon's mishaps.
