Autocar got their hands on privileged information about McLaren’s next flagship model, nicknamed Mega Mac. Apparently, the British manufacturer is developing a machine that will make us forget all about the defunct F1 and take on the likes of the Bugatti Veyron.
Only 500 models will be produced for the official launch, set for 2014. They’ll command between £350,000 and £400,000.
The beast will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 kicking out an astounding 799 ponies and 590 lb-ft of torque, dispatched to the wheels via a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission built by Graziano.
The 0-100 km/h dash will take just 2.8 meagre seconds, the 0-160 5.5 seconds and the 0-320 22 seconds, enough to beat the Bugatti Veyron at the finish line.
Built on a chassis similar to that of the MP4-12C, it’ll feature several superior electronic, aerodynamic and suspension components.
The cabin will offer optimal visibility while keeping materials and features to an absolute minimum, barring the small storage space behind the two front seats.
