Detroit 2008: Maserati counts on exclusivity (video)

After making its world debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, the Quattroporte Sport GT S sedan was unveiled today in front of North American journalists. As the ultimate expression of sportiness, the Quattroporte Sport GT S targets drivers after a sporty ultra-premium sedan. This is made possible thanks to adjustable sport suspensions with firmer springs and shocks. The result is a lower ride height -- 10 mm up front and 25 mm in the back.

To ensure incredible braking performance, Maserati teamed up with Brembo to develop compressed, molded discs -- a world first. Unlike traditional cast discs, these new cast-aluminum units maximize braking performance and feel, even in extreme conditions. New 6-piston front calipers are also included. Seven-spoke, 20-inch alloys featuring the famous "Dark-Chrome" treatment are wrapped by ultra-wide tires that were specifically designed for this car. The Quattroporte Sport GT S is devoid of any chrome trim. Rather, it sports an aggressive styling with blacked-out grille, side window frames and dual exhaust tips. Body-colored door handles are obviously in the mix. Inside, the carbon-fiber dashboard displays a new aluminum-textured design, while the front seats prove more supportive. In addition, the GT S is the brand's first sedan to offer available red leather seating. photo: Alexandre Beaulne
