New VVT-i V6 Delivers 220-HP Through New 5-Speed Automatic Transmission
How does a best-selling sedan get even better? Well, ask Toyota Canada Inc. that recently announced a new more powerful V6 engine to enhance their popular Camry. So how much will this upgrade cost? Not a penny more than the existing LE V6, XLE V6, and the SE V6 models.

The aluminum 3.0-L quad-cam V6 engine produces 210-hp at 5,800 rpm (an additional 18 hp over the current engine) and 220 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm (11 lb-ft more than before).
While lighter in weight than the outgoing engine due to an aluminum alloy block, Toyota has also introduced multiple advanced technologies to enhance performance and boost efficiency. Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) controls intake valve timing in accordance with the engine load for improved responsiveness, torque, power, and leads to a reduction in emissions. In addition, the new system also includes a new electronic drive-by-wire throttle system that produces a smoother, quicker response to input. Despite the power increase the V6 Camry still maintains its certification as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) certification for fuel economy and emissions performance.
