DTM: Audi's Edoardo Mortara wins the first challenge against Mercedes' Bruno Spengler

Audi driver Edoardo Mortara finally had the best of Mercedes rival Bruno Spengler in the last battle of the day between the two brands, at the Olympic Stadium of Munich.

The day started with challenges between teammates at Audi and Mercedes before the final confrontation between the best driver of each brand.

Spengler won his battles against Jamie Green, Ralf Schumacher and Renger van der Zande in the first three rounds of this special event day in Munich to earn a spot in the final.

His rival at Audi, Edoardo Mortara, won his first three battles against fellow Audi drivers Rahel Frey, Mattias Ekström and Mike Rockenfeller.

Mortara completed the final challenge in 9:25.839, beating Canadian Spengler who was 0.366 slower at 9:26.205 for a first Audi victory this weekend.

There will be another round of battles between Audi and Mercedes tomorrow, in Germany. The top-16 will race each other to victory.
