Auto123.com has teamed up with Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler for the 2009 season of the DTM , the hotly disputed German touring car championship.Spengler, 24, was born in France but lived in Quebec until he was 18 when he moved to Europe to race Formula Renault 2.0. This season marks his fourth year as a works driver for German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz in DTM.
In this series, Spengler has had some well-known teammates such as Mika Hakkinen, Jean Alesi and Bernd Schneider.Twice a runner-up in DTM, Spengler will sport the colours of Auto123.com on his HANS device and will provide exclusive comments after each race on Auto123.com.As a works driver for Mercedes-Benz, Spengler is one of the very few Canadian racers who do not have to bring sponsorship to a race team.
"I am delightful to be able to tell the readers of Auto123.com what's racing like the DTM series," said Spengler. "It is an extremely competitive series, and the races are always very disputed with some inevitable wheel banging.""This year I will drive the C-Class car sponsored by the Mercedes-Benz Bank as part of the official HWA squadron. Pre-season testing went well, and the laps times were incredibly close. I think the title will again be hotly disputed. But I like that, because I really enjoy racing when there's stiff competition".The season will kick off on May 17 on the Hockenheimring in Germany.Bruno Spengler's official web site is www.brunospengler.com photo: René Fagnan - Auto123.com
